Biological hierarchy: This concept refers to the organization of biological systems, with each larger level emerging from the level below (e.g., individuals make up populations). The scaling from smallest to largest is as follows:
molecule ->cell -> tissue -> organ -> organ system -> individual -> population -> community ->ecological system
Evolution: the process by which the genetic composition of living organisms changes over time, as a result of natural selection, genetic drift, gene flow or mutation. Changes are manifest at the population level, and can lead to a species changing to a new species or diversifying into two or more new species from earlier forms during the history of the earth.
